Welcome to the 5th Grade!
Thanks to everyone for coming out to Open House during Catholic Schools Week. The All About Me projects were a success. The kid's display boards looked so professional, and the Power Point presentations were nicely done!
After mid-winter break from February 11-20 our class will be attending a show at the Edmonds Performance Center to see the Kenya Safari Acrobats. It should be exciting to see!
In Math the students are learning about long division. The class as a whole seems to be doing a good job of doing the steps carefully, paying attention to detail, and writing out their work neatly. A nifty way of checking their final answers by "casting out 9s" at first seemed impossible, but most are on board to see that it is actually an easy way to check your work mentally. Of course division is just multiplication in reverse so it is imperative that your fifth grader has a solid command of his or her math facts.
