History

Established in 1964, Holy Rosary School boasts one of the finest campuses in the area. Located at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac on 770 Aloha Street in the heart of downtown Edmonds, Holy Rosary’s school and church buildings are recently remodeled and immaculately maintained. The campus is also home to a stunning parish center that is available for school, church, youth group and community functions. Holy Rosary School offers 11 classrooms for Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade, a full-size gymnasium, cafeteria and school hall, library, technology center, science room, music room, beautiful outside courtyard, soccer field, and extensive playground with updated play equipment. Our Story

Holy Rosary Catholic School opened September 25th, 1964, as a primary ministry of Holy Rosary Parish, nestled near the heart of beautiful downtown Edmonds. About 120 students enrolled in the first three grades, with plans to add another grade each year. Parents were expected to support the school, and mothers were called to help with lunch and library duty, playground supervision and other activities. The school was staffed by the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sisters with Sister Mary Cornelia as principal.

In 1969, the Sisters of the Holy Names took over the staffing responsibilities of the school, which had by then expanded to seven grades. Lay staff gradually replaced the Sisters over the years and continued the school’s mission to educate children to be Catholic Christians and stewards of their talents as effective communicators, responsible citizens, and life-long learners.

More than 60 years later, approximately 250 students are enrolled in classes Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade on a stunning campus boasting a renovated school, full-size gymnasium, cafeteria, library, science room, music room, technology center, parish/youth center, courtyard, soccer field, and extensive playground. Holy Rosary is fully accredited and led by Larkin Temme as principal. Principal Temme has a long history in Catholic education. She's a product of Catholic schools and has been teacher and/or leader in Catholic schools since 2004. All teachers are certified by the state and more than half have earned advanced degrees.

While much has changed over the years, the core values remain the same. Each day begins with prayer. Religion is taught daily. Each class adheres to rigorous academic standards. Catholic values are taught and modeled by the entire staff. Students graduate with the finest Catholic education, along with treasured memories – and a parish family – to last a lifetime.
