Spanish
The Holy Rosary School Spanish Program is offered to all students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8. The objective every year is to provide all students with an academically stimulating, yet enjoyable language learning experience.
All of the students at Holy Rosary School have Spanish instruction three times per week; Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 6 have 30-minute classes and Grades 7 and 8 have 45-60 minute classes. Every day they spend time perfecting the four skills necessary for learning a foreign language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. During the lessons, students engage in multiple learning activities including:
- singing songs
- dancing
- listening to stories
- role playing
- playing games that involve new vocabulary and math concepts
- acting out simple dialogues
- reciting poems, reading short stories
- integrating other subjects and technology to the target language
- team work
- other activities and strategies all related to a second language acquisition
- Students also gain an insight into the Hispanic Culture and actively participate in cultural events related to the language and culture.
