Beyond the Classroom: Preparing for What's Next

Middle school is a time of incredible transformation. At Holy Rosary School, our Upper Grades are intentionally designed to channel that energy into personal independence, academic responsibility, and confident leadership.

Moving away from self-contained classrooms, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders manage their own independent schedules, rotating between specialized subject teachers throughout the school day. With an expanded focus on advanced STEM, hands-on Science, and creative outlets like Band and Choir, we provide a challenging yet deeply supportive environment. Here, students don't just prepare for high school—they discover who they are as faith-filled individuals, thinkers, and global citizens.

Explore how we guide and inspire our students through each middle school year:

6th Grade: The Transition to Independence

In 6^th Grade, we strive for each student to experience success while learning from the teaching styles of four core teachers – Homeroom, Math, ELA and Science. We present a challenging, relevant and student-friendly academic program in an environment of acceptance, support and humor. Students experience growth physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually as they begin to mature into young men and women. It is the major transition year between self-contained classrooms of the Intermediate Grades and the rotation classes of the Upper Grades.

7th Grade: Rigor & Faith in Action

In 7^th Grade, students rise to the additional challenges with the excitement that comes with rotating classes while learning from the teaching styles of five core teachers – Homeroom, Math, ELA, Science and Religion. Rigorous academics and community service learning through Religion outreach are avenues to transform students into well-prepared young men and women for 8^th grade.

8th Grade: Preparing Global Leaders

In 8^th Grade, in addition to rigorous academics provided through a rotation of classes, and community service learning through Religion outreach, students prepare to become community and global leaders. As students depart Holy Rosary School at the end of their 8^th Grade year, they should be faith-filled individuals who have a strong set of academic, social, and emotional skills which will promote success in High School.
